I would like to encourage the progress of racing talent through club level and up to national level. To do this we need to have a proper class ladder to progress up. Tamiya class is fine for the beginner but does not have an equivalent in the BRCA scheme of things. If we as a club want to have closer competition ties with other clubs in the region and nationally, we need to have some common ground.

With this in mind I would like your opinions on the classes we race every week. My idea is to have the following classes raced regularly.

Standard Tamiya class with NO modifications other than proper after market options, eg hop-up parts and some alloy suspension parts. Limited to Tamiya weights and using only standard, silver can, kit motors.

Stock class with any chassis and using a 27 single STOCK motor with max advance of 24 degrees. (ie no modified cans as used in 1/12th scale)

Modified class as per BRCA super touring class. Any chassis and motor limit of 12 double.

This would enable an easy upgrade route and would remove the perceived need to cheat. The race Director would be able to switch any suspicious or offending car into the appropriate class.

Please let me have your ideas by coming to see me at race control at some quiet period.
