| What follows is an e-mail from one club who have effectively banned 27Mhz
from their indoor site. It expands on a memo in the BRCA 2000 handbook I have noted
before.
From: Mike Dennison Dear Glenn Thank you for your e-mail, please note the 27mhz rule is for indoor only, outdoor racing will still allow 27mhz for the foreseeable future. The reasons for the decision include:- 1: We have had a lot of problems on 27mhz within the Alstom site (we think this is due to on site communication usage) 2: As a responsible club we feel that we should move to come in line with recommendations from the DTI (the government body that issues frequencies to the country's modellers) they have stated that they cannot recommend any 27mhz frequencies for land based models. The only freq which is solely for land bases models is now 40mhz. 3: On the subject of the cost of 40mhz, you can get a standard 2 channel 40mhz AM for under £45. check out the link below for details. also many members have inflicted a lot more than £45 worth of damage to their cars due to interference on 27mhz. I hope this helps to explains our decision, whilst we realise that this may cause problems for a few members we feel that overall it is only way to go. thank you for your comments Mike Dennison
Following on from this I have had an e-mail from the DTI. It relates to the official document RA60 which I have included in the site. The paragraph about 27MHz is highlighted. In summary there are 5 frequencies which are not used by CB and should be less prone to interference. They are 26.995, 27.045, 27.095, 27.145 and 27.195. This only slightly alters the club's recommendation. 40MHz is still advisable |
