The 2001 AGM was held at the Warehouse on 10th November starting at 5.10pm. There were about 50 members present, a fair turnout but there were several notable absentees.

Retiring chairperson Colin Blades opened the meeting with his report.  Colin thanked everyone who had helped with the running of the club over the past year and made particular thanks to Caroline and Joan for their efforts in Racers Rest.

We then went to the accounts. The accounts showed how the members had responded to the change in attitude we agreed last year. We agreed that the club should actively try to build up funds for the expansions that are now happening. We will need every penny that we can manage from club racing and more full accounts can be seen by any club member by asking Stewart. Again it was pointed out the magnificent contribution that Racers Rest made to club funds

The meeting then progressed to the elections of officers. For Chairperson we had an unopposed proposal for Colin Blades to continue which was accepted. For Vice Chairman there were 2 nominations, current V-C, Malcolm Hebden and Peter Bradley. Unfortunately Malcolm was not able to be present but it was made sure everyone was aware of who he was. There was a show of hands and Peter won by a handful of votes. Retiring Secretary Debbie Bakos said that she would be unable to continue, but if no other nominees came forward said she would stay on for the moment. That is always a mistake and of course no-one else came forward. We had  Treasurer (Stewart Craig), Competition Secretary (Carole Cook) and Race Director ( Stewart Craig). Junior Committee Chairman was handed unanimously to Ian Johnston

The ordinary committee is expandable to include as many people as want to serve. So the new committee consists of Geoffrey Catchpole, Ian Craig, Adam Darcy, Paul Davies, Alan Harland, Malcolm Hebden, June Inglis, Alex Inglis, Ian Johnston, George Paradelis, David Pugh, Andrew Robinson, Chris Roe, Paul Russon, Ben Sopher, Ray Taylor and Caroline Winkworth. Look on the committee page for full details.

We then had the annual presentations for the most improved under 16 drivers. We decided that although Louise Hebden has continued to compete well off-road, we have done so little racing in the club that the Gerry Wright trophy would not be awarded this year. After much pondering the Dave Williams trophy for on-road went to Scott Ward

Scott started the year feeling his way into the sport and has mad excellent progress. He still has some way to go, particularly in consistency but is regularly in the "B-final" and won the shield for the under 13's in the recent Summer Series.

Also during the meeting was a presentation of bouquets of flowers to Caroline, June for their efforts in  Racers Rest and Heather Ann for her help with Race Control.

The meeting was closed just after 6.00 after which Racers Rest was opened for a buffet that was gratefully received.

There followed a short race meeting which as well as the usual Tamiya, Stock and Saloon classes also included a 12th scale heat and an off-road heat. Results as usual
